What inspired you to create The Greater You platform, and how has your vision evolved over the years?

The Greater You Leadership Series was born from a desire to help individuals recognize that leadership starts within. Early in my journey, I observed how transformative self-awareness, accountability, and purposeful action could be for leaders. I wanted to create a space where people could develop these qualities while learning how to lead effectively. Over time, the vision has grown to emphasize the importance of servant leadership, collaboration, and addressing the specific challenges leaders encounter today. Leadership is an ongoing journey, and this platform has evolved to provide tools and strategies that remain adaptable and relevant in a changing world.

What does leading with intention mean to you, and how can leaders cultivate this approach in their teams and organizations?

For me, intentional leadership is about aligning your actions with your values and purpose. It’s a deliberate way of leading that focuses on how your decisions affect the people and goals you serve. Leaders can nurture this approach by reflecting on their core motivations and consistently aligning their actions with those principles. To cultivate this within teams, leaders should communicate clear expectations, model the behaviors they want to see, and encourage ongoing reflection and feedback. Leadership is ultimately about service, and leading with intention ensures that service has lasting impact.

What are the biggest challenges organizations face in developing effective leaders, and how does your series address these obstacles?

Organizations often struggle with bridging the gap between leadership theory and real-world application. Another challenge is the limited focus on personal growth aspects like self-awareness and emotional intelligence, which are key to effective leadership. The Greater You Leadership Series helps overcome these challenges by blending foundational principles—such as accountability, communication, and servant leadership—with hands-on learning experiences. Our programs are designed to be interactive and tailored to organizational needs, ensuring participants gain practical skills they can immediately apply. By prioritizing both personal and professional development, we help organizations create leaders who are prepared for complex and evolving challenges.

What advice do you have for K-12 leaders in balancing the multifaceted issues they are all dealing with?

K-12 leaders face immense pressures, but one key approach is to focus on creating an environment that emphasizes balance and purpose. Rather than trying to address every issue at once, concentrate on fostering a sense of community among staff, students, and families. Building relationships and encouraging open dialogue can help lighten the burden by creating a shared responsibility for success. Also, don’t shy away from celebrating small wins—they serve as reminders of progress and inspire everyone to stay motivated. Finally, trust in your resilience and the ability of your team to overcome challenges together. Leadership is not about perfection; it’s about progress and impact.

What unique challenges do women face in leadership roles today, and how can they overcome these barriers to excel in their careers?

Women in leadership often navigate challenges like implicit bias, managing multiple responsibilities, and limited access to mentors or advocates. These barriers can sometimes lead to feelings of self-doubt or the need to prove themselves constantly. To overcome these obstacles, women must recognize their value and strengths. Building a strong network of support, seeking out mentors, and investing in personal growth are powerful ways to move forward.  Organizations also have a role in creating inclusive environments that support women’s success. Through programs like Women Leaders Walk the Talk, we’re fostering spaces where women can connect, grow, and lead with authenticity. When women embrace their unique strengths, they can thrive in any leadership role.
